(STATS) - Nicholls State has reportedly suspended Altee Tenpenny indefinitely following his arrest Sunday.

The Houma (La.) Courier reported that the former Alabama running back has been charged with discharging a weapon and possession of a firearm.

Tenpenny came to Nicholls following two seasons with the Crimson Tide and a short stay at UNLV, where he was dismissed in August for an undisclosed violation of team rules. He has not appeared in a game for the Colonels, who ended their FCS-worst string of 23 consecutive losses with a 38-17 win over Houston Baptist on Saturday.

Tenpenny was considered one of the nation's top high school running backs when he signed with Alabama, but got just 48 carries for 218 yards and a touchdown in 26 games.
