Wide receiver Taveon Rogers caught an 8-yard touchdown pass with no time left on the clock as New Mexico State beat San Jose State 29-27.
The Aggies (2-6, 1-3 WAC) drove 79 yards on eight plays in the game's final 52 seconds for the winning score.
Rogers, making his first start of the season for New Mexico State, made five catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Christian finished with 23 of 44 passing for 259 yards and two touchdowns.
The Spartans (1-8, 0-4) trailed 17-3 at halftime but got back into the game with 10 points in the third quarter and 14 more in the fourth.
San Jose State's Jordan La Secla completed 22 of 35 tries for 361 yards and three touchdowns.
Down 20-13, La Secla hit Noel Grigsby for a 12-yard touchdown pass to tie the score with about 11 minutes to go.
After New Mexico State took a 23-20 lead on Tyler Stampler's 43-yard field goal, San Jose State answered with a 31-yard touchdown pass from La Secla to Jalal Beauchman with 3:24 remaining to put SJSU up 27-23.
Beauchman had nine catches for 113 yards and the touchdown, while Grigsby added six grabs for 83 yards and the score.
Brandon Rutley had 18 carries for 65 yards for San Jose State, along with a 75-yard scoring catch in the third quarter.
