New DL Coach Turner brings tons of experience to A&M
As reported by Bruce Feldman, DL coach David Turner has left Mississippi State in favor of joining Kevin Sumlin's Texas A&M staff in College Station.
The move was necessitated by former defensive line coach Mark Hagen taking the same post at Indiana. As such, Sumlin moved quickly and hired a man chock-full of experience on the collegiate level -- particularly within the SEC.
Turner has coached in the conference since 2002 -- accruing stops at Vanderbilt, Alabama, Kentucky, and Mississippi State. His longest tenure(s) came in Starkville -- where he effectively developed the likes of Fletcher Cox, Chris Jones, Preston Smith, Josh Boyd, Kyle Love, and Pernell McPhee.
In College Station, he'll be tasked with shoring up a unit ranked No. 107 nationally in run defense this past year. The Aggies' young defensive line group was beset by inconsistency, but there certainly is talent available for Turner to work with.

The defensive end duo of Myles Garrett and Daeshon Hall could be the best in the conference -- whilst defensive tackles Daylon Mack, Zaycoven Henderson, and Kingsley Keke figure to be improved from a season ago.
