Via a report from Greenville Online, Muschamp spoke about the significance of having "The Ol' Ball Coach" and his wife Jerri involved within the program. Not only were both true pillars within the Columbia community, but each had an impact on many members of the current roster.

"I think it is really important to have he and Jerri involved," said Muschamp. "A lot of these kids came here because of him. I know her involvement at practice and all that. That's awesome to me."

Muschamp and assistant coach Lance Thompson spoke about the time spent individually with Spurrier -- recounting a time in which Spurrier was drawing up plays and talking football.

Muschamp in particular figures to implement some of the principles Spurrier utilized. These directly led to three-straight years of at 11 wins.

"For them to be involved is important because I think you always, as a coach, need to embrace the tradition and the history of the program and they have a huge, prominent part in our program and always will," said Muschamp. "I think it's important for them to be around."
