Mizzou locks up Gary Pinkel through 2021
The reward for winning consecutive SEC East titles and being named the 2014 SEC Coach of the Year sure is sweet, as Missouri and head coach Gary Pinkel have agreed to new contract terms, according to Missouri's official site.
Pinkel's contract now runs until Dec. 31st of 2021 with an increased guaranteed salary of $4,020,000 annually.
Already the school's all-time most winning coach with 113 career victories, Pinkel will now have the opportunity to put some distance between himself and the previous record holder Don Faurot (101 wins).
With Pinkel annually making over $4 million dollars, 10 of the 14 head coaches now make $4 million dollars or more, despite only five of them having won a SEC conference title.
As Stewart Mandel points out, that's going to create at least one expensive last place coach:
