Miles asks boy battling cancer to 'save a spot for me' in heaven

Throughout this past year, LSU head coach Les Miles has bonded with teenager Sid Ortis, who was diagnosed with bone cancer in August 2014.

Although a native of Alabama, Ortis, 16, is a massive fan of the LSU football program. Miles invited Ortis and his family to take in the Auburn game at Tiger Stadium in September. It was a special event for all involved, as Miles and Ortis shared a moment on the field.

The two have also corresponded via phone calls.

Miles called Ortis, who is home from the hospital and in hospice care, Thursday to discuss the upcoming game versus Western Kentucky. During the phone call, Miles said, "When you get to heaven, save a spot for me."

If possible, Ortis and his family will try to make the trip to Tuscaloosa in order to watch LSU play Alabama on Nov. 7.
