Michigan State Recruiting: Spartans have shot with Donovan Peoples-Jones?
Does Michigan State recruiting have a realistic chance to land five-star wide out Donovan Peoples-Jones on Thursday?
We are two days away from learning the fate of one of the biggest targets on Michigan State recruiting’s 2017 football board. Five-star Detroit, Mich., wide out Donovan Peoples-Jones has been considered the No. 1 receiver in the country and the Spartans are in his top five.

This past week, he announced that his decision will come on Thursday where he will make the choice on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. ET. His finalists are Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida and Florida State.
Right now, the front-runners are likely Michigan and Ohio State. The Spartans are familiar with him and vice versa, but he has been leading elsewhere for a while.
Does Michigan State even have a realistic shot at landing Peoples-Jones, you ask? In my honest opinion, no. The Spartans have been in contact with him since he was a sophomore and junior in high school, but the 2017’s top receiver has always been eyeing other programs and he seems to like what he sees from Michigan and Ohio State.
Also, having a 3-9 season does not help. If the Spartans went, let’s say, 12-1 with another trip to the playoff, the chances would be much higher. I’d rank Michigan State third or fourth on his ;its of top five teams.
The rumors of Jim Harbaugh leaving for the NFL mixed with his recent visit to Columbus might sway him in the direction of Ohio State, though. However, I think he’s the Wolverines’ to lose.
