Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis has admonished defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi for his comment last weekend that the Spartans tried to play ''60 minutes of unnecessary roughness'' against Michigan.

Hollis says Narduzzi was caught up in the moment, but should be ''accountable for his statements.''

Narduzzi said earlier this week he used a ''poor choice of words'' following the game.

Michigan State beat Michigan 28-14, but Spartans defensive lineman William Gholston was suspended for the No. 15 Spartans' matchup with No. 4 Wisconsin this weekend. Gholston was shown on video taking a swing at a Michigan lineman.
