ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) Michigan running back De'Veon Smith has been taken to the locker room for evaluation after appearing to hurt his right ankle.

He had run for 125 yards on 16 carries, including a tackle-breaking, 60-yard touchdown, on Saturday against No. 22 BYU.

Smith was injured on a run late in the third quarter when Cougars defensive tackle Logan Taele landed on his right ankle.

He limped off the field, barely putting weight on his right foot. He was later taken across the field and to the locker room on a cart.
