Miami-FSU 8pm Saturday, UNC will be 3:30 Oct. 15
Miami and Florida State will play Saturday night at 8:00pm, the Hurricanes then welcome UNC October 15 at 3:30. These games follow with a trip to Virginia Tech October 20. The three straight games against ranked teams are the Hurricanes toughest part of the season.
The is the fifth consecutive year that Miami-FSU is being played Saturday night in prime time. The Sunshine state rivalry will be telecast to the nationally for the fourth consecutive season. The 2012 game was split nationally with Baylor-Texas. The Miami-FSU rivalry was rated the 14th best in the nation by the sporting news earlier this year.
The Miami games against North Carolina and Virgina Tech are likely to decide the ACC Coastal Division. The Hokies and Tar Heels meet Saturday in Chapel Hill. This will be the first of two straight games for UNC in the 3:30pm slot on regionally on ABC ,ESPN or ESPN2, and ESPN3/Watch ESPN.
If one of the teams sweeps their games against the other two, it’s going to take two losses down the stretch by the team leading the Coastal, while the team that is 1-1 will have to go undefeated in their remaining games. North Carolina is currently 2-0 in the ACC, VA Tech and Miami are a half-game behind.
Once the ‘Canes are finished with Virginia Tech they don’t play another game this season against a currently ranked team. They play at Notre Dame, Virginia, and NCST and host Pittsburgh and Duke.

This would have been a great game for the ESPN Gameday crew to visit. They will be heading to College Station, Tx this week for Texas A&M-Tennessee. The Aggies and Vols are the teams ranked directly ahead of the Hurricanes. Had FSU not lost to UNC, Miami and FSU would have both been in the top ten and Gameday might have gone to Coral Gables.
With Hurricane Matthew looming, ACC officials are keeping on eye on what is, for now, a Tropical storm warning for Miami-Dade and Hurricane warning to the north.
