Pushaun Brown ran for 146 yards and two touchdowns as Maine held off Bryant 28-13 on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

The Black Bears have won nine of their past 11 home openers.

Maine took a 28-0 lead into the fourth quarter after Brown's 1-yard touchdown run with 2:18 to play in the third quarter. Brown, who surpassed 100 yards in his final three games last season, also scored on a 1-yard run in the first period.

Bryant rallied in the fourth quarter with touchdown runs of 4 and 11 yards by Jordan Brown, who led the Northeast Conference in rushing last season. He finished with 128 yards rushing, including 82 in the second half.

Bryant outgained Maine in total offense, 322 yards to 290 yards. Bryant quarterback Mike Westerhaus passed for 194 yards but was intercepted twice.
