LSU's Orgeron says starter Ingram suspended 'indefinitely'

Published Aug. 3, 2018 5:04 p.m. ET

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) LSU coach Ed Orgeron says guard Ed Ingram has been suspended indefinitely for an unspecified violation of team rules.

The suspension of the 6-foot-4, 314-pound Ingram was announced Friday. The decision comes as players report for the first practices of fall camp this weekend and leaves the Tigers with three returning starters on the offensive line.

Orgeron says junior college transfer Damien Lewis will be the first-team right guard when practice begins Saturday.

The 6-3, 326-pound Lewis was an early enrollee last January out of Northwest Mississippi Junior College and had been working as the second-team left guard behind Garrett Brumfield.

Orgeron says freshman Chasen Hines will work as Brumfield's backup.

Ingram started 12 games as a true freshman at right guard last season after Maea Teuhema left the team.
