LSU QB Rettig, former 4-star recruit, transferring to Rutgers
Former four-star QB recruit Hayden Rettig is transferring from LSU to Rutgers, a source told FOX Sports Thursday afternoon. Rettig visited the RU campus this week and picked Rutgers over Boston College, Cal, Tennessee and Louisville.
The strong-armed 6-foot-3, 205-pound Los Angeles native, who arrived in Baton Rouge in January of 2013, spent one season at LSU before opting to leave the program. He redshirted last fall and will have to sit out the 2014 season. He will have three seasons of eligibility.
Rettig, the younger brother of former Boston College starting QB Chase Rettig, figures to compete for the Scarlet Knights starting quarterback job in 2015. Gary Nova, a three-year starter for Rutgers, will be a senior this fall. Behind Nova are junior Mike Bimonte and redshirt freshman Chris Laviano.
