LSU starting linebacker Ryan Baker was benched for the home opener against Northwestern State because of a violation of team rules.

While LSU head coach Les Miles is not disclosing what Baker did, he says his benching was for one game only.

Baker, a senior, was credited with four tackles in second-ranked LSU's 40-27 season-opening victory over Oregon a week ago.

Sophomore Lamin Barrow, who had two tackles against Oregon, replaced Baker in the starting lineup Saturday night in LSU's 49-3 win over the Demons, who play in the Football Championship Subdivision.
