Lionel Stokes scored off a 63-yard interception and Louisiana-Lafayette overcame a poor offensive effort to beat Kent State 20-12 on Saturday night.

Louisiana-Lafayette (1-1) struggled to maintain a consistent drive with 159 total yards on offense. The only offensive scoring drive the Ragin' Cajuns mustered was on three plays, capped by Qyendarius Griffin's 1-yard touchdown run to break a 7-7 tie in the second quarter.

Griffin rushed for a game-high 51 yards on 24 carries for Louisiana-Lafayette. Chris Masson completed 5 of 13 passes for 18 yards and threw one interception.

Kent State (0-2) was not much better offensively against the Ragin' Cajuns, who held them to 186 total yards. The Golden Flashes scored their only touchdown when Spencer Keith threw a 6-yard touchdown to Jacquise Terry in the first quarter.
