The football game between Texas Tech and Oklahoma has started after being delayed by lightning for 1 hour and 34 minutes.

A few bolts of lightning could be seen in the distance as Oklahoma's band was playing its pregame show, and rain started falling at the stadium with 11 minutes left on a scoreboard clock counting down to kickoff. Just after the national anthem was played, fans were asked to leave the main seating area and take shelter on the concourses.

Several thousand fans ignored that advice, but more obeyed as rains and winds intensified.

It was the second time this season Texas Tech had a game delayed by lightning. The Red Raiders' game at New Mexico last month was delayed twice for a total of 1 hour, 35 minutes.
