Terrance Walker returned a fumble five yards for a touchdown to lead an opportunistic Langston defense as the NAIA school defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 19-12 in Saturday's season opener.

In the Delta Classic 4 Literacy, Langston forced five turnovers against the Golden Lions, an FCS school that went 5-6 last season. Darrion Lewis threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Carlos Ross, and Anthony Fernandez kicked two field goals.

The Golden Lions outgained Langston 313-246 but were denied points on their first four visits inside the 25-yard line, thanks to a fumble, interception and two missed field goals.

Walker's score gave Langston a 16-0 lead 14 seconds into the fourth quarter. Arkansas Pine-Bluff made it 16-12 with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Benjamin Anderson to Mareo Howard and a 1-yard run by Stephen Jones, but got no closer.
