Mitchell Bennett caught two touchdown passes and a two-point conversion as Lafayette won its first game of the season Saturday, 28-21 over Stony Brook.

Bennett caught 21- and 8-yard scoring passes from Ryan O'Neil as the Leopards (1-5) built a 17-7 lead through three quarters.

His two-point conversion catch after Marc Quilling's 1-yard touchdown run helped Lafayette hold on as the Seawolves (2-4) scored twice in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run by Michael Coulter and a 1-yard pass from Coulter to Matt Brevi.

Pat Mputu rushed for 102 yards on 23 carries, and O'Neil was 15 of 24 for 142 yards passing for Lafayette.

Stony Brook's Brock Jackolski rushed for 104 yards on 15 carries, and Coulter completed 21 of 35 passes for 200 yards. The Seawolves had 359 yards total on offense to Lafayette's 303, but were penalized 11 times for 119 yards.
