Louisiana-Lafayette has hired Mississippi State assistant coach Mark Hudspeth as the Ragin' Cajuns' football coach.

The university has confirmed the hiring and scheduled a formal introduction Monday for Hudspeth, who spent the past two seasons as Mississippi State's wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator.

Before joining Dan Mullen's Bulldogs staff, Hudspeth was the head coach for seven seasons at Division II North Alabama, where he went 66-21 with five NCAA playoff appearances.

Hudspeth replaces Rickey Bustle, fired after the Cajuns went 3-9 this season.
