Kentucky WR scores, rejoices, tears ACL

In the blink of an eye against Alabama State on Saturday, Kentucky WR Alex Montgomery went from celebrating his second touchdown reception of the year to seeing his season come to an embarrassingly premature end.

After chest-bumping teammate Demarco Robinson, Montgomery landed awkwardly on his left leg. It was later diagnosed as a torn ACL, ending Montgomery’s freshman season.

Sadly, he is the second SEC wide receiver this year whose season has ended after tearing an ACL during a touchdown celebration. Georgia’s Malcolm Mitchell was the first, having also sustained his injury while chest-bumping a teammate, against Clemson in the season-opener.
