John Chavis pulls no punches talking about return to Death Valley

Les Miles did everything he could to keep defensive coordinator John Chavis on his staff last offseason, but his efforts proved to be vain, as Chavis knew the offensive issues were likely to do in LSU's head coach sooner or later.
Fast forward a year, and Chavis will enter the Texas A&M-LSU game on the other sideline and with a team capable of putting up monster numbers on offense. Chavis was asked Tuesday how he would feel entering Death Valley this weekend.
“I’ll tell you this; I’m excited about walking in there as an Aggie,” Chavis said.
Although he could have, the defensive guru did not drop the mic there.
“Really, this is going to be about Texas A&M and LSU on the football field,” Chavis said. “I don’t know what’s going on and really not concerned with it. You move on. I spent six years in Baton Rouge. I enjoyed my time there. Most of the people were good to me. It was a great experience."
Of course, as anyone can see, LSU's offense runs through running back Leonard Fournette. Something Chavis got to see first hand a season ago.
“He’s easily one of the better, if not the best, back in the country,” Chavis said. “I’m not taking anything away from anybody else. The year that I was around him, he’s an outstanding young man. He’s a first-class act that’s very, very talented. He’s been blessed with a lot of talent and he’s worked to make it work for him. He will pose a challenge for anybody that is facing him."
