For the third time this week, the 2017 USC recruiting class has had a de-commitment. This time it’s three-star lineman James Lynch.

Round Rock, Tex. defensive/offensive lineman James Lynch –ranked as the 577th overall recruit in the 247Sports Composite– committed to USC back in August. But now he’s parted ways, with schools like TCU, Duke and Air Force in the mix for his services.

“I would like to announce my decommit (sic) from USC,” Lynch wrote on Twitter. “I want to thank all the coaches at USC for the opportunity to be apart (sic) of that program.”

He joins defensive back Wylan Free and linebacker Daniel Green as three-star de-commitments from the Trojans this week.

While the optics of de-commitments aren’t good, USC’s 2017 class still appears to be in good standing following a successful season that has landed the Trojans in the Rose Bowl.

Clay Helton’s staff is tuned into a number of leads around the country to replace the commitment of two-way lineman Lynch.

Just two weeks ago, defensive tackles Jay Tufele (four-star) and Brandon Pili (three-star), along with offensive tackles Foster Sarrell (five-star) and Austin Jackson (four-star) were all official visitors when the Trojans took on Notre Dame at the Coliseum.

For now though, USC’s 2017 recruiting class stands at 13 commitments, leaving 10 sports remaining, with less than two months until Signing Day.
