Willie Bell recovered a Prairie View A&M fumble in the end zone with 27 seconds left in the third quarter to break a tie and spark Jackson State to a 34-13 Southwestern Athletic Conference victory Saturday night.

The Tigers (2-3, 2-2) tacked on two fourth-quarter touchdowns and haven't lost at home to the Panthers (0-5, 0-3) since 1970.

Bell's recovery of a fumble by punter Travis Jatzlau came after the Tigers had backed the Panthers into a fourth-and-14 from their 8-yard line.

After Prairie View led 10-0 at halftime, Jackson State battled back in the third quarter with a strong running game led by Tommy Gooden, who finished with 135 yards on 18 carries.
