Iowa State backup receiver Albert Gary has been charged with first-degree robbery stemming from a June incident in Ames.

University police say the 22-year-old redshirt sophomore form Ocala, Fla., surrendered to the Story County sheriff Tuesday. He's being held on $25,000 bond. A call from The Associated Press to his attorney, Matthew Boles, wasn't returned.

Gary is accused in a June 19 campus robbery. Police say a man claimed he and two others were approached by about six men, and one patted him down while displaying a handgun.

Coach Paul Rhodes said Monday that Gary had been suspended for three games and will be available for Friday night's game against No. 2 Oklahoma State.
