AMES, Iowa (AP) Iowa State backup quarterback Zeb Noland is out for the season after injuring his knee Thursday during practice.

Cyclones coach Matt Campbell said Friday that Noland, a freshman, hurt his knee in a non-contact drill. Campbell didn't further specify the injury.

Noland threw for 1,627 yards and 17 touchdowns last season at Oconee County High in Georgia.

Noland's injury likely means that sophomore Jacob Park, a highly-touted transfer from Georgia, will serve as Joel Lanning's backup.
