Injury bug hitting both South Carolina, Missouri prior to game
Both South Carolina and Missouri will be without integral members of their respective teams when the two face off this weekend.
The Gamecocks will be without running back Brandon Wilds and center Alan Knott. The duo were designated as starters to begin the year. Knott suffered a nasty sprained ankle versus Georgia a few weeks back. Wilds has battled multiple injuries, including a sprained shoulder and a broken rib.
While it was unlikely Knott would've been back for the Missouri game, his absence forces true freshman Zack Bailey to grow up in a hurry. He'll be facing a stout Mizzou defensive line, which includes fellow freshman stud Terry Beckner, Jr.
Wilds' unavailability likely means more of quarterback Lorenzo Nunez in the run game, complimented by backs Shon Carson and David Williams.
On Missouri's side of the coin, starting tight end Sean Culkin and starting tackle Nate Crawford will also be unavailable.
Culkin's replacement comes in the form of Jason Reese. Only a redshirt sophomore, the Texas native has nice upside from an athletic standpoint.
Crawford's injury completely reshuffles the look of the offensive line. Taylor Chappell now will move from left guard to man the vacant right tackle spot. The duo of Alec Abeln and Brad McNulty will hold down the fort at Chappell's former spot.
Potentially the biggest injury news (for either team) is that of Mizzou linebacker Kentrell Brothers. He leads the nation in total tackles, and is arguably Missouri's best player on either side of the ball. While Brothers may be listed as "questionable" for the game (with an ankle issue), it would be surprising if he didn't suit up.
