Incarnate Word beats Southeastern Louisiana 16-2

HAMMOND, La. (AP) Trent Brittain had 266 total yards on Saturday night, including a 58-yard keeper for a score, and Incarnate Word notched its first road win of the season in a 16-2 victory over Southeastern Louisiana.

Incarnate Word (5-4, 4-3 Southland Conference) took the lead for good on a two-play, 3-yard scoring drive within the first three minutes after forcing a three-and-out on the game's first possession and blocking Harrison Heim's punt.

Southeastern Louisiana (4-5, 3-4) scored a safety when the Cardinals' punt snap went out of the end zone late in the second quarter. The Lions had five turnovers to the Cardinals' one.

Cody Seidel's 29-yard field goal made it 10-0 early in the second quarter, and Brittain's 58-yard TD run capped the scoring in the middle of the third.

Brittain finished with 178 yards passing and 88 yards rushing. Clint Killough had five catches for 72 yards.
