Illinois State senior wins FCS Rimington Award

(STATS) - Illinois State senior offensive lineman Mark Spelman was named Wednesday as the winner of the 2016 FCS Rimington Award, which recognizes the nation's outstanding center.

Spelman, from Brookfield, Wisconsin, was an All-Missouri Valley Football Conference first-team selection for the second consecutive season. He also was named to the conference's academic squad.

The award is named for former Nebraska All-America center Dave Rimington. Spelman will be honored alongside winning centers from each level of college football Jan. 14 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
