Illinois linebacker sentenced for DUI

University of Illinois linebacker Ashante Williams has been sentenced to a form of probation after pleading guilty to driving drunk.

Court records indicate Champaign County Judge Rich Klaus sentenced Williams on Thursday to two years of court supervision. That means the conviction won't be part of Williams' record if he completes the terms of the sentence. Those include continued treatment for alcohol abuse, 125 hours of community service and a $1,250 fine.

The 21-year-old junior pleaded guilty in September. He was arrested July 30 in Urbana and had a blood-alcohol level of .177 percent. That's roughly twice the legal limit for driving.

Williams was suspended by Illinois football coach Ron Zook after his arrest. The Mayfield, Ohio, native has since rejoined the team and played in four games.
