Huskers QB commit Patrick O'Brien is on the rise

The Nebraska Cornhuskers may have found a hidden gem in Patrick O'Brien. The  6-foot-3, 230-pound quarterback out of San Juan Capistrano, California had no offers when Nebraska offered him and he then committed to the 2016 class.

Now, he is impressing coaches, scouts, and analysts around the country. He is turning heads left and right at the Elite 11 camp run by Trent Dilfer, prompting this exchange between Dilfer and his evaluators:

After impressing at the Elite 11 semifinals, he earned nice praise from the B2G Elite Camp:

"O'Brien was consistent the entire weekend, but he really upped his play the final day during the ‘A-Game’ 7-on-7 competition. O’Brien made good decisions throughout the weekend, displayed excellent arm strength and accuracy."

Many have argued that quarterback play is what kept the Bo Pelini teams from breaking the glass ceiling they were stuck in, so it will be interesting to see if Riley and company has identified a gem in the big-armed passer from California.
