COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) It was as big a send-off as Texas A&M University can give.

The opportunity to pay tribute to A&M's first Heisman Trophy winner John David Crow drew more than 500 family members, friends, fellow coaches and fans to the floor of Reed Arena.

Former A&M women's basketball coach Lynn Dickey remembered Crow as a champion of developing women's athletics in his role as athletic director.

Also delivering a eulogy was former A&M football coach R.C. Slocum, and among those attending was Paul Bryant Jr., son of Crow's former coach the late Paul ''Bear'' Bryant.
