New Michigan coach Brady Hoke hired Curt Mallory to coach the secondary and Jerry Montgomery to coach the defensive line.

The moves complete Hoke's first staff with the Wolverines.

Mallory and Montgomery will be assistants under defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, who had the same job with the Baltimore Ravens.

Mallory played linebacker for Bo Schembechler and Gary Moeller at Michigan. He worked for his father, Bill, at Indiana, and was defensive coordinator at Akron last season after having the same position at Illinois the previous three years.
