Hogan rides momentum into final ride at Stanford
Kevin Hogan, Stanford's starting QB, struggled in 2014; however, he showed great promise at the end of the year. That's good news for Stanford. If the team is going to have any shot of winning the Pac-12 in 2015, it all starts with Hogan playing the best football of his career.
Hogan is the Pac-12's most tenured QB, but has had an up and down career at Stanford. Sure, he's led the Cardinal to a Rose Bowl and to numerous major wins. However, he's also shown an inability to make the big play when the Cardinal most needed it.
While his 2014 was tumultuous, his season took a turn for the better against UCLA in the regular season finale. Hogan went 16-of-19 for 234 yards and two touchdowns. The Cardinal trucked UCLA 31-10. It's the type of performance head coach David Shaw expects to see more of in 2015.
“The way he played at the end of the year, when he’s smooth and relaxed and in rhythm, he’s exciting to watch,” Stanford head coach David Shaw said, according to Kyle Kensing of Athlon Sports.
