Golson out for No. 17 Florida State's game against Syracuse

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Florida State quarterback Everett Golson will miss Saturday's game against Syracuse due to a concussion. The announcement was made 90 minutes before kickoff.

Golson, a graduate transfer from Notre Dame has started the Seminoles' first seven games, completing 67.1 percent of his passes for 1,659 yards, 11 touchdowns and an interception.

Golson had been limited in practice this week after taking a couple tough hits in the No. 17 Seminoles' 22-16 loss to Georgia Tech last Saturday.

Sean Maguire will start in Golson's place. The junior has played in two games this season, completing 7 of 8 passes for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Florida State (6-1, 4-1 ACC) is also missing running back Dalvin Cook, the nation's second-leading rusher, due to a left ankle injury.
