Gators LB Jarrad Davis 'Questionable' Against Georgia

The No. 14 Florida Gators are preparing for their annual rivalry game with the Georgia Bulldogs. However, the Gators could be without one of their defensive leaders in senior linebacker Jarrad Davis, who is dealing with an ankle injury.
It’s Florida-Georgia week people!
Hallelujah!
Finally, the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail party is upon us and as always this is a HUGE game for both teams really, but more so for the Gators.
The Orange and Blue come into this one in first place in the SEC East with a 3-1 record in the conference in addition to being 5-1 overall and ranked No. 14 in the latest AP Poll.
Meanwhile, Georgia is 4-3 overall, but 2-3 in the SEC. Their last loss was a surprising 17-16 defeat at the hands of Vanderbilt at home.
Florida is still struggling with injuries, but hopefully the extra week off will help guys get ready for this big rivalry game.
Linebacker Jarrad Davis suffered a bad ankle sprain in the Missouri game. The senior leads the Gators with 48 total tackles, is tied for the team lead with 4 pass break-ups and has 3.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and 3 quarterback hurries as well.
“Right now that’s one that we’ll push through the week, and know this, we won’t ever jeopardize anything there. It would have to be right in all these guys’ cases,” McElwain said.
Those other guys McElwain was referring to are defensive end Bryan Cox Jr. (thumb), defensive end Jordan Sherit (knee) and senior nose tackle Joey Ivie (thumb). Sherit and Ivie haven’t played since the Tennessee game, while Cox missed the Missouri game after sustaining an injury during pregame warm-ups.
Tight-end DeAndre Goolsby is also dealing with an injury to his finger that he sustained against Mizzou.
“He came out yesterday, did some things. It will be interesting to see how he’s able to handle that throughout the week so I’d say that one would be questionable as well,” McElwain said.
Despite the other injuries on the team, losing Jarrad Davis would definitely be a big blow to the Gator defense, but safety Marcus Maye said he knows Davis will do everything he can to try and be ready for Saturday.
“I mean, Jarrad is the type of person not to miss anything. He’s a competitor so him being on the fence of playing and having to sit out is definitely killing him, but he’s doing everything he can to come back,” he said. “He’s in the training room 24/7, he’s always icing and stuff like that. He hasn’t missed a meeting or anything, so he’s still around. But all effort is into getting Jarrad back right now.”
