Gator OL Thurman 'loves being in this position' to win SEC East
The contest versus Georgia is massive on a number of levels for Florida.
Of course, the rivalry between two programs is well known. Both teams fight against one another for recruits, and have a clear distaste for each other.
However, the main narrative for this installment is how the contest will determine the SEC East Division race. As currently constituted, Florida holds a one-game advantage over Georgia. It's very simple from the Gators' perspective. If Florida wins out in conference play, it will represent the East in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. A victory here will give them a two-game advantage on the Bulldogs, and will make it very difficult for any other team in the division to catch them.
A Georgia win would level both teams in the standings. However, the Bulldogs would have an advantage based upon the tiebreaker. It too would have to win out in order to secure division.
For all of these reasons, it's a truly significant game.
