Furman beats South Carolina State 17-3

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) Triston Luke ran for two touchdowns and Furman beat South Carolina State 17-3 on Saturday night.

Luke finished with 75 yards on 22 carries. Reese Hannon threw for 87 yards as the Paladins (3-2) amassed just 221 yards of total offense.

Furman held South Carolina State to 80 yards rushing and the Bulldogs (2-2) were hurt by three turnovers. Furman was only able to capitalize on one, a fumble that led to a Jon Croft Hollingsworth 22-yard field goal.

Luke's first touchdown came late in the first quarter on a 6-yard run following two rushes by Ernie Cain to cap a 60-yard drive.

South Carolina State's Tyler Scandrett kicked a 24-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter before Luke scored again on an 8-yard run midway through the fourth quarter.

Caleb York threw for 192 yards for the Bulldogs.
