Freshman CeCe Jefferson ready to break out for Gators

Defensive end CeCe Jefferson came into college with considerable hype. Ranked the No. 11 player overall by 247Sports, Jefferson was expected to inject some enthusiasm and speed into a somewhat mediocre Florida pass-rushing unit.
Through two games, Jefferson has notched four tackles in a reserve role. He still needs to become a bit more refined in regards to his pass-rushing technique, and has a tendency to sometimes rely solely on his athleticism. With that said, the ability and raw skills are there for him to one day become a very talented player.
Jonathan Bullard is a quality pass rusher from one end spot. Defensive tackle Joey Ivie leads the team with 3.0 sacks. Jim McElwain would love to get production from the RUSH spot, usually played by the duo of Alex McCalister and Bryan Cox, Jr.
The fact Jefferson received first-team snaps in practice Tuesday signals that he likely is developing faster than expected. As McElwain has shown via multiple personnel decisions, he isn't afraid to opt for a younger player with a higher upside over a more experienced option with a lower ceiling.
