LSU running back Leonard Fournette has been nominated this week for the 2015 Orange Bowl-FWAA Courage Award.

The honor recognizes an individual who has dealt with an injury or physical handicap, one who has lived through hardship, prevented a disaster, and also an individual who has displayed courage on and/or off of the football field. A group of writers from the Football Writers Association of America will select a winner at the conclusion of the year.

In Fournette's case, he and his family were displaced due to Hurricane Katrina. For five days, Fournette was living on a bridge until his family were able to receive help. From there, his family lived in multiple places all throughout both Louisiana and Texas.

It's quite the story, considering Fournette's prolific nature on the field. The New Orleans native has rushed for 864 yards and 11 touchdowns on only 99 carries.
