Former Panther Derrick Burns charged with robbery

Former Pittsburgh fullback Derrick Burns was arrested on aggravated robbery charges this week, according to a report from Ohio's WKBN.

Local authorities said Burns, 22, "choked a 21-year-old man until he was unconscious" and robbed him of $1,000 on April 29, according to the WKBN report. Burns turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest, and his court appearance his scheduled for May 12.

Burns played in only one game for Pitt before a stroke ended his football career prematurely in 2012.
