Rose Bowl champion TCU will play BYU in football next season even though they are no longer Mountain West Conference rivals.

They will meet Oct. 28 at Cowboys Stadium. ESPN2 will televise the Friday night game.

TCU is coming off its first undefeated season since its 1938 national championship and was No. 2 in the final AP poll. This will be the Horned Frogs' last season in the Mountain West before moving to the Big East in 2012.

BYU has already left the conference, and will play as an independent.

Both teams have played at Cowboys Stadium. TCU beat Oregon State in last season's opener and BYU defeated Oklahoma in 2009, the first college game played at the Dallas Cowboys' home.

LSU and Oregon play in the annual Cowboys Stadium Classic on Sept. 3. Alabama is scheduled to play Michigan in the 2012 game.

TCU finally announced its non-conference schedule Thursday after making some adjustments due to Texas Tech's decision last month to back out of a game. Texas Tech had to make room next fall for an extra Big 12 game on its schedule.

The Frogs open Sept. 3 at Baylor, then have an open date before three consecutive games at home, even as their campus stadium is undergoing an extensive renovation. They play Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 17, followed by Portland State on Sept. 24 and SMU on Oct. 1.

The Mountain West hasn't yet released dates for conference games, although the Frogs will host Colorado State, New Mexico and UNLV and travel to Air Force, Boise State, San Diego State and Wyoming.
