While many are calling for the Gators to take a step back in their transition from Will Muschamp to Jim McElwain, Florida did not bring in the former Colorado State coach to rebuild, they brought him in to win.

According to gambling site 5Dimes, the Florida Gators over/under opened at 7.5, the same number as defending SEC East champion Missouri.

While question marks do exist for the Gators, most notably at quarterback, offensive line and receiver, the talent Muschamp left behind is capable of competing in the East.

If McElwain can get productivity from his quarterbacks and receivers, typically two of the strongest units on all of his offenses, don't be surprised if the Gators find themselves on the positive side of their 7.5 number.

Other opening odds of note for the Gators include:

Odds at winning the National Championship: +8000

Odds at winning the SEC Championship: +2600

Florida opens as a 2-point underdog against Florida State on Nov. 28
