Florida A&M beats Norfolk St. 16-6

James Owens and Damien Fleming each rushed for touchdowns as Florida A&M defeated Norfolk State 16-6 on Saturday.

Florida A&M (3-6, 2-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic) opened the game with a 10-play, 78-yard scoring drive, capped off by Damien Fleming's 27-yard score. The Rattlers added a safety 8 minutes later, taking a 9-0 lead.

Points came at a premium after the first quarter as both offenses struggled. Norfolk State (2-7, 2-3) got their only points when Lynden Trail forced a fumble and recovered it in the end zone. FAMU had a 9-6 lead following the missed extra point.

James Owens' 8-yard score with 1:11 to play iced the game for FAMU. Owens rushed for 89 yards on 18 carries while Fleming added 74 yards on 10 carries. Fleming also threw for 66 yards on 6-of-16 passing.

Rolandan Finch finished with 151 yards on 23 carries, pacing Norfolk State.
