Five-star hoops star Malik Newman commits to Miss State

It hasn’t taken very long for Ben Howland to land a massive recruit at Mississippi State. 

Friday morning, Malik Newman, a five-star guard in the class of 2015, announced he’s committed to the Bulldogs’ program. The 6-foot-3, 174-pound prospect chose MSU over Kentucky, Kansas and LSU, among others. 

Newman is a Jackson, Miss., native. 

The scoring guard is ranked the No. 1 guard and No. 8 player overall by 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings. He’s Mississippi State’s highest-rated recruit in a long time.
