Fedora: No. 23 UNC still deciding on starting QB

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) North Carolina coach Larry Fedora isn't ready to name a starting quarterback for the No. 23 Tar Heels.

Fedora said Monday the coaches haven't decided whether junior Marquise Williams or redshirt freshman Mitch Trubisky will start against Liberty in Saturday night's opener. Fedora says both have taken first-team reps during preseason camp, and he hasn't publicly committed to a deadline for naming a starter.

Williams started six games last year, including the final five as the Tar Heels rallied from a 1-5 start to win a bowl game. He threw for 1,698 yards and 15 touchdowns while running for a team-best 536 yards and six scores.

UNC is also unsure whether it will have senior defensive tackle Ethan Farmer, a possible starter, due to an unspecified eligibility issue.
