FCS power NDSU to visit Oregon in 2020
(STATS) - The FCS' most dominant program has a date with one of the FBS' biggest powerhouses.
North Dakota State and Oregon announced Friday they will meet at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon, on Sept. 5, 2020.
The Bison, ranked No. 1 in the STATS FCS preseason poll, have won four straight national titles, while Oregon has won two Rose Bowls and reached two national championship games in the last five years. The Ducks are No. 5 in the FBS preseason coaches' poll.
The programs are a combined 106-10 since 2011.
"What a tremendous opportunity for our football program," said NDSU athletics director Matt Larsen. "Having an FBS opponent creates a lot of excitement among our alumni and fan base, and is great exposure for our team, our university and FCS football as a whole."
The Bison are 8-3 against FBS opponents, including five straight victories. They defeated Iowa State 34-14 on the road last season and will visit Iowa in 2016.
"Every FBS game is a challenge, but also very rewarding for the young men in our program," coach Chris Klieman said. "To go into Oregon and play one of the premier teams in college football in that atmosphere will be an unforgettable experience."
Oregon is 11-0 all-time against the FCS, including a 62-13 victory against South Dakota last year. The Ducks open the 2015 season Sept. 5 against Eastern Washington, which is ranked sixth in the STATS poll and reached the FCS quarterfinals last season.
North Dakota State kicks off defense of its titles Aug. 29 at Montana to open the Division I college football season.
