Ex-Michigan St. RB gets jail time
Former Michigan State running back Glenn Winston has been sentenced
to 180 days in jail and a year of probation for his role in a Nov.
22 fight with members of a campus fraternity.
The sentence handed down Monday for assault and battery, and
conspiracy to commit assault will allow Winston to be released to
attend school.
Winston is one of 11 current or former Spartans players to
plead guilty to misdemeanor charges in connection with the
on-campus fight. Ten have been sentenced.
Receiver Myles White was sentenced Monday to 18 months
probation and 150 hours of community service for assault.
Five players were sentenced on Friday: Former safety Roderick
Jenrette received 90 days in jail for aggravated assault and
assault; receiver Fred Smith was sentenced to four days in jail,
probation and community service for conspiracy to commit assault;
defensive back Chris L. Rucker and offensive linemen J'Michael
Deane were sentenced to 12 months probation and 150 hours of
community service for assault; and former defensive end Jamiihr
Williams was sentenced to 18 months probation and 150 hours of
community service for assault.
