Elon QB Christiansen to miss rest of season
(STATS) - Elon starting quarterback Connor Christiansen will have shoulder surgery and miss the rest of the season.
The left-hander, a redshirt sophomore, injured his throwing shoulder in the CAA Football team's season-opening loss to Gardner-Webb last Saturday.
An MRI on Tuesday confirmed Christiansen's injury. He had an operation on the same shoulder as a high school senior.
"Unfortunately, Connor's injury will force him to miss the remainder of the season," coach Rich Skrosky said in a school release Thursday. "We are hopeful that he will be ready for spring practice."
Christiansen completed 15 passes for 108 yards against Gardner-Webb. Sophomore Daniel Thompson replaced him in the second half.
Last season, Christiansen split time at quarterback with Thompson and was 136 of 233 for 1,246 yards and seven touchdowns with four interceptions.
