Duke's Edwards has 3 non-offensive TDs vs NC State
Duke's DeVon Edwards is the first Bowl Subdivision player to score three non-offensive touchdowns in the same game in more than a decade.
The redshirt freshman returned a kickoff 100 yards in the third quarter, then returned two interceptions for scores on consecutive throws late in the Blue Devils' 38-20 win against North Carolina State on Saturday.
The last FBS player to score three non-offensive touchdowns in the same game was Oklahoma's Antonio Perkins, who returned three punts for scores against UCLA in September 2003, according to STATS LLC.
Edwards returned the first interception 25 yards for the score with 3:21 left, then followed with a 45-yarder for a second touchdown 16 seconds later.
The win helped Duke (7-2, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) secure its first winning season since 1994.
