Duke Joins Early College Football Postseason Bowl Game Projections
College football experts put Duke Football back into bowl game projections after the Blue Devils upset Notre Dame on the road last week.
After a 1-2 start it seemed like Duke Football was in danger of missing the postseason for the first time in five years, however a huge upset win at Notre Dame has the Blue Devils back in the postseason picture.
ESPN ACC Football analyst David Hale left the Blue Devils out of his Week 3 conference bowl game projections due to the fact the team started 1-2 and was winless against FBS Division I teams. Then Duke went to Notre Dame as three-touchdown underdogs and upset the Fighting Irish in a 38-35 shootout to get the season back on track. Six wins is definitely a possibility for this team, but they still have several difficult games going forward.
Hale’s Week 4 ACC bowl projections have the Blue Devils returning to the postseason in a Tier Three bowl. He predicts they will be end up in the St. Petersburg Bowl taking on a school from the American Athletic Conference.
The Blue Devils will face a struggling 1-3 Virginia team that defeated Duke last season this weekend. Hopefully Duke can avoid a letdown after a major victory for the program and continue the school’s record streak of consecutive bowl game appearances.
